AN-26: The Felix

SPECIAL CONTAINMENT PROCEDURES:

All samples must be stored in a Class B biocontainment chamber at 4°C, inside double-sealed glass vials. The chamber must maintain negative pressure and be monitored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Only personnel with LVL-3 and LVL-4 accreditation and medical clearance are permitted to enter. A 10-minute decontamination cycle in the access chamber (airlock) is mandatory before entry and exit. Direct handling without the use of double nitrile gloves and a face shield is prohibited. All experiments must be conducted inside a Class II biosafety cabinet. Any sample that transitions to the inactive hexagonal form must be incinerated at 1200°C within one hour. During the study of AN-26, the use of protective suits and face masks is mandatory to prevent the inhalation of AN-26. After the experiment, the scientist working with AN-26 MUST wash their hands thoroughly to prevent any infection.

DESCRIPTION:

AN-26 "The Felix," also known as "The Happy Virus," is a group of spherical viral particles with an average diameter of 120 to 200 nm (nanometers). Under electron microscopy, numerous primary particles are observed, some clustered and others isolated. The outer envelope features irregular, pointed projections resembling "spike-like" proteins, giving it a "crown-like" appearance. Internal density varies, suggesting an irregular nucleocapsid structure. AN-26 spreads through the inhalation of contaminated aerosols, the ingestion of infected organic material, and the consumption of contaminated water. Rodents are confirmed vectors.

Discovered on November 29, 2013, in South Plankton, Hallalian. Approximately 1,200 individuals were infected in the village of Xynomanta; the village is currently under quarantine to prevent the virus from spreading. After several days of searching for survivors in Xynomanta, OMTF Unit β-2 declared that no survivors remained. The village remains abandoned to this day but is under OS Foundation surveillance. All social media records regarding AN-26 were wiped, and before the infected individual's body was retrieved and contained by the OS Foundation. A blood sample from the infected individual was transferred to R Corp for research purposes. Below, you can see the progression of AN-26 symptoms identified by R Corp so far will be listed below:

Symptoms 26-A: Upon infection, the individual will feel no emotion other than happiness. Any pain experienced is ignored, accompanied by a forced laugh induced by the virus. At this stage, the individual's sanity remains normal.

Symptoms 26-B: Ten minutes after infection, the individual will hear voices and laughter in their mind, causing them to laugh to themselves and reducing their sanity. At this stage, the virus forces the individual's mouth to contort into a smile, facilitating the virus's spread throughout the body. The individual often puts on a mask with a cheerful expression (if one is available in the environment).

Symptoms 26-C: After 30 minutes, the individual experiences an intense headache, and their mouth becomes incapable of expressing any emotion other than a smile, as the virus has infected their brain and is forcing a cerebral restructuring. Whenever the infected person attempts to scream for help, all that emerges is laughter.

Symptoms 26-D: After 40 to 45 minutes, the infected individual will die of asphyxiation due to forced cerebral alterations. AN-26 will contaminate the air exhaled through the infected individual's nose. The body must be disposed of via incineration. Do not come into contact with the infected individual's body to avoid infection.

The creator of The Felix is Almaazago Felix, also known as Dr. S. (Dr. Smiley), who has now been neutralized by order of the OS Council for developing the most dangerous plague to ever strike Hallalian territory. We are currently attempting to develop a cure for AN-26 with the help of R Corp. This page will be updated once the cure is ready.
